MSOP Event #2

So I played the MSOP Event #2 on Full Tilt today. It was a $16 donkament like 5000 someodd players with like a 80k prize pool and $15.5k for first. Here's a little write up of my tournament experience. I'm going to be doing something similar to this in all the MSOP events I go deep in. No official hand history so bare with me on the hands I desribe.

The first hour of the tournament I played fairly snug picking up pot here and there trying to get a tight image. I won a fairly nice pot with 77. A coouple limpers and I limp on the button with 77. Flop AT7 2 diamonds. Early position player bets 1/3 pot and I raised. Turn was a blank and villian checked I fired and he called. River was another blank and I fired and he folded. And moved up to about 4k on that hand. That was about the only hand that was of any importance in the first hour.

The next huge hand was during the 2nd or 3rd hour so I'm not such of the blinds. I raised like 2.5 times the big blind w/ AQo and get one caller. The flop was QJ9 2 dimaonds I c-bet and other player calls. The turn is the 8 of diamonds putting a 4 card straight on the board and 3 diamonds (I have the ace of diamonds). I check and he shoves like 3.2k into a 2.6k pot. I think for a second and dont think he has a ten and if he has 2 pair I have resuck outs and I call. He shows AJ and i double up on that hand.

I won KK versus AK for another decent pot. This was another big hand. I raised 66 utg+1 and get one caller in the small blind (not sure of the blinds). Flop is AJ6 2 diamonds (maybe hearts don't remember). He check-called my contiuation bet. The turn brought a blank but it but 2 flush draws on board. At least point there is about 13k in the pot. Normally I would bet something like 7k or 8k into the pot but I thought they had like a draw or maybe a weak ace, so I shoved 17k into the pot. I thought I looked way weak and could get called by a weak ace maybe even a flush draw but he folded.

I cant really think of any big hands between that one and the bubble besides two. I called a raise wth 99 and check raised all-in on a 722 flop and took down the pot. Another hand a player limp utg I have KK and raise it up... he shoves with TT and of course i call. FLOP AK5 all clubs he has a club. Turn is a Q. River J! O hi der mr. straight! That pot woulda put me into the top 15 on the bubble, but I still had a good stack.

Basically between the bubble and a little after I ran like god. I won a bunch of short stack races and coolers. I raise AQs and get shoved on by 8 bbs. I call obviously and suck out on AK. I won an A9 > KK 8 bb shove and I won a 44 > Q9s race.

There's about 2 other hands of importance before my bust out hand. The blinds are @ 2500/5k. It's folded around to the bubble who raises to 13k. He has about 67k behind and had been very aggressive raising the button a lot of times when it folded around to him. The big blind has about 58k and I had 132k. I shoved with 55 and the big blind and button fold. This next hand could have been huge for the tournament. Blinds are 3k/6k. utg+3 min raised to 12k. the next guy calls and I hold KK. I raised it up to 42.2k. The original raiser goes into the tank. He has about 130k (or something around there). While hes in the tank another player is egging him on to call. I had been fairly aggressive with my 3-bets (always had a hand) and he pretty much thought of me as a lagtard. Eventually he folded claiming he had AQ (probably offsuit). Tht hand would of put me at like 300k and top 10 in chips. But I was still good.

After that hand I basically went card dead and had terrible position. Basically all the stacks to my left had 15 big blinds or less so any pot I opened I basically had to call a shove. Also, the antes on tilt are so huge that it eats away at your stack if you go a few rounds without playing. I basically got down to like 120k @ 5k/10k. A short stack shoved like 98k or soemthing from the hijack and I had 66 in the big blind. I basically said lets gamble, called and he flipped over 77 and he had me dominated board missed and I had like 18k left. Next hand he raised it up I had 5k in the big blind and 10k left so I called with 98 and lost that hand as well and was out in 82nd place.

After about 5 and half hours of play, it's a little disappointing to come away with only about $100. I was so close to hitting that big score that I seriously need for my bankroll. However, I do have some money that I can play some more MSOP events and hopefully he it big in those. Finishing 82nd out of 5300 people in this donkfest was something I think is a good accomplishment. I'm probably going to play the Pot Limit Hold'em on Monday, so look for another update like this one and if you don't see one Monday night or Tuesday morning, I probably donked out. Stay for more updates on all of these MSOP events.
